Komodo Sea Kayaking Adventure

This is a unique expedition where you will paddle your sea kayak to some of the most remote beaches on earth, drifting over magnificent coral reefs, accessing little visited areas, uninhabited islands as well as the island which is inhabited by mythical dragons. One of the best sea kayaking adventures out there! This 10 day expedition from Bali is one of a kind. Our partners are the only operator running kayaking expeditions in the National Park. With the help of an experienced guide, we will paddle between the islands, camp on uninhabited islands with glorious beaches and visit small stilted villages. We will have the chance to swim and snorkel on the most stunning reefs as well as explore the islands by foot. We will walk on Rinca Island to see the dragons – (very close up) – as well as buffalo, deer, monkeys and wild pigs – is an experience you won’t forget! This Komodo Kayaking expedition has a maximum group size of 10 people.

It was a magic holiday, an experience we will never forget. Everybody really enjoyed it and we would definitely recommend it to non-kayakers as well as kayakers. The snorkelling is simply the best I’ve ever seen.

Sea Kayaking Adventure Overview

If you crave adventure and remote places, want to experience cultural immersion and like being in the outdoors, then our Kayaking Komodo expedition is for you. Perfect for those who love a physical challenge but also cherish quiet times of relaxation. You will be escorted around the Komodo National Park by one of our well trained kayaking guides who not only will give you pointers on how to kayak but also inform you on what you are experiencing on the trip. Our objective is to visit the home of the mighty Komodo Dragon. The Komodo Dragon’s sheer size and power is unbelievable, growing more than 3 metres in length and weighing over 150kg. Although they plod along at a leisurely pace, do not be fooled, when called for, the Dragon can run up to 30 kilometres an hour and strike at lightning speed. We will see a number of these magnificent animals at close range – an experience you will not forget. The Komodo Dragon however is just one attraction of the park, you’ll also likely see buffalo, deer, monkeys and wild pigs. We will be visiting uninhabited islands, snorkelling in crystal clear water above pristine coral. The area boasts some of the best marine life on the planet, with dozens of reefs in which we will snorkel. We will visit sites where manta ray and turtle are common. We will visit caves and islands packed with flying fox as well as remote communities that live off the sea. Our nights will be spent beneath the stars on some uninhabited island.

After a bit of snorkelling just off the beach of Kelor and breakfast we start paddling to Kukusan, a local village. If school is in we will visit the school and students. Our next leg is to Gado with its’ wonderful mangroves and snorkeling. We will have lunch before we head to Warloka a laid-back fishing village, which offers both, a light trek on its secluded shoreline as well as a taste of Florinese history with its treasures from the distant past.

An ancient former trading port, Warloka is a place where numerous historic artefacts like stone pillars, dolmens, daggers and spearheads, jewellery, and antique ceramics have been found. Some of these items are even estimated to date back to the Chinese Bronze Age, which presumably started around 2000 BC.

The trek will be followed by a sunset boat ride to a small mangrove island (Kaaba) inhabited by bats. This is a great sight enjoyed from our top deck with thousands of bats flying into the night sky for their evening meal. Overnight in the park.

After a drink at the Ranger’s Cafe’ we will start heading west to Manta Point to hopefully snorkel with these gracious animals. After lunch we will then start our paddle towards Sebayor Kecil to set up our last beach camp for the trip. Experience of a lifetime

Highlights of the trip - Cave swimming, the waterfall trek, snorkelling, komodo dragons, watching the bats and amazing sunsets from beanbags on top of the boat Paradise! Perfect amount of action and relaxation. I don't think i'll experience bliss like that again.

5* review on Komoda Kayaking

Highlight - The fruit bat viewing at dusk, Rinca Island. They did a great job adapting to some issues that were unavoidable regarding access to the boat they usually used, and had to scramble in order to find another boat to meet their needs. It was a bit cramped for the trip, but everything was still enjoyable.Wonderful adventure is the world's last Eden.

amazing guide and crew on the support boat. Cannot recommend it highly enough. Wonderful sense of fun and adventure while not feeling too touristy that you were "taking away" from the area.

Komodo Kayaker

Sleeping under stars on the boat and on the beach, seeing a turtle whilst snorkeling, kayaking across open water and seeing the blow hole of a large mammal ahead of me, the bats, the komodo dragons, the people, jungle trek, the welcome dance, the school children laughing..... everything really was memorable and exciting. A fantastic and special trip!

The only tip I would give other travellers is to stay for as long as you can!! It was absolutely fabulous!

The trip was fantastic, everybody had a brilliant time.
The crew were all brilliant. The second boat was a bit “rustic” but that didn’t bother us.

We will definitely be looking for a similar trip in Indo next year!

Komodo kayaking

Amazing place, people, culture and adventure. Lots of diversity and plenty to do. Kayaking can be as easy or as hard as you would like. Island deserted and provide an opportunity to come off the busy world that most of us live in. Coral to die for - the biggest and best table coral I have ever seen. A to be recommended trip.

I've recently returned from a wonderful holiday on your Komodo dragon expedition. It was a fantastic experience and myself and my boyfriend Arthur thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd especially like to commend the kayaking guide Matthias for doing a really great job 🙂
