About Brazil
Brazil has so much more than meets the eye and few explorers have seen its remote destinations. Brazil has a collection of some of the finest natural wonders in the world such as the wildlife and wetland areas of the Pantanal, the mighty Amazon river and Basin, a coastline that captures some of the most famous beaches in the world; Ipanema and Copacabna.
Geography
Brazil is the largest country in South America and dominates the continent of South America by bordering each country except Chile and Ecuador. It’s the fith largest country in the world. From its Northern border with the Guianas and Venezuela to its Southern tip at Argentina and Paraguay its coastline stretches
. 4,500-mile (7,400-kilometer) coastline along the Atlantic
Peru’s foreign affairs have been dominated by conflict with neighbouring countries; however most of these disputes were resolved in the 20th century. Peruvian politics is relatively stable with Peru being a presidential representative democratic republic. There is a multi party system in Peru and voting is compulsory for anyone between 18 and 70.
Economy/ Tourism
Brazil's economy comprises of agriculture, industry, and services, and is one of the largest and most diverse in the world. The country has an abundance of natural resources, including vast agricultural lands, mineral deposits, and huge forests.
Brazil has a rapidly dynamic consumer market and a growing middle class
The economy is also marked by economic disparities between regions. The government has implemented various reforms to attract foreign investment and promote economic growth.
Tourists visiting Brazil will be aware of Brazil’s growing consumer culture from the bustling shopping districts in Sao Paulo to tourist markets in Rio de Janeiro. The wealth divide is also very evident, especially in areas like Rio that are baked by growing favelas (shanty towns)
Language
The official language spoken in Brazil is Portuguese. Although Brazil has a vast number of minority languages ( approx. 210). In cosmopolitan cities such as Sao Paulo there are large numbers of Japanese, Americans and Europeans who are generally bilingual.
Religion.
Brazil’s main religion is Roman Catholicism. But, Protestants are growing in number.
Afro-Brazilian religions such as Candomble hold traditional ceremonies that are fascinating to watch and stick very closely to their African roots.
There are minority groups of immigrants from Africa and the Middle East who are Muslims. There are also Jewish communities mainly in urban areas in addition to some Buddhist and Hindu communities.
