If you are looking at family holidays to Borneo, then this trip combines the best of Tanjung Puting National Park’s orang-utan research stations and rehabilitation centres with trekking and camping deep in the Borneo rainforest. On our family adventure you will get an opportunity to see at first hand the work of dedicated conservationists working to preserve the habitat of the orang-utans. Although the park is protected by the national government the orang-utans’ environment is threatened by the powerful commercial interests of oil palm industry and illegal loggers.. Therefore, responsibly organised family holidays and eco- friendly holidays to the region play an important part in educating different generations to the important role local conservationists and guides play. We help to fund and support the work of the Friends of the National Parks of Indonesia- one of the most effective but low key NGO’s working in Borneo, Indonesia.
Tanjung Puting National Park is arguably the best place in Borneo to see orang-utans as it is home to the densest population of wild them (over 4,000) anywhere in the world. You will also see the rare proboscis monkey, the false gavial crocodile and a wide range of tropical birds
Whilst here you will spend your time on board a river boat (klotok), which is a great way to enter deep into the Borneo rainforest.
