Guyana Country Information

Guyana is one of the least-known corners of South America and is truly an ‘off the beaten track’ experience. The Pioneer team, alongside our local partners have a fantastic knowledge of Guyana and a real love of developing unique experiences for our clients.

As the only English-speaking country of South America, due to its British colonial past, Guyana is a delight for English speaking visitors. Its chief resource has been its natural resources, such as its pristine rainforests, sugarcane plantations, rice fields, and bauxite and gold reserves. Nevertheless, Guyana has remained one of the poorest countries in South America until recently when it’s fortunes changed dramatically in 2015 with the discovery of rich offshore oil fields.

Guyana has an abundance of amazing wildlife that you may never have experienced before including; jaguars, tapir, giant anteater and the black caiman. Extraordinary wildlife isn’t the only thing Guyana has to offer. Pristine rainforests, incredible rivers and spectacular sun rises make this idyllic country the perfect escape from reality. As well as the unforgettable wildlife, Guyana is home to the Kaieteur Falls; which is the world’s tallest single-drop waterfall and is five times the height of the Niagara Falls at 741 feet. Let us plan your holiday to Guyana today!
