Colombia can be visited year-round thanks to its equatorial climate, although the drier months of December to March and July to August often offer the best conditions for travel. During these periods rainfall is generally lower in many regions, making it ideal for exploring colonial cities, coffee plantations and Caribbean beaches. The rainier months typically fall between April to June and September to November, when short tropical showers are more common but landscapes are lush and green.
“Our Colombia trip with Pioneer Expeditions is an incredible journey through one of South America’s most diverse countries. From the vibrant streets and colonial charm of Bogotá and Cartagena to the lush coffee regions, Amazon rainforest, snow-capped peaks, and stunning Caribbean beaches, we experience a remarkable variety of landscapes and cultures. What makes it special for me is the chance to explore both well-known highlights and off-the-beaten-track destinations, connecting with local communities along the way. Colombia’s mix of history, natural beauty, and warmth makes every part of the trip unique and unforgettable.”

The currency in Colombia is the Colombian Peso (COP). Cash can be exchanged at banks, bureaux de change and some hotels. Credit cards such as Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted. There are also plenty of ATMs (which have an English language option) in the big cities. For spending money, it is best to have money in local currency (COP) and upon your arrival in Colombia we can arrange a visit to a local bank or ATM. The majority of hotels, restaurants, and stores accept debit and credit cards (Visa and Master Card, but not American Express). Traveller’s cheques are not widely used in Colombia and therefore relatively difficult and expensive to convert to cash. For your convenience we have partnered up with a currency exchange company that offer you next
day delivery on any currency orders. Please note not all currencies are available. Order details along with any terms and conditions can be found at https://ttngtravel.money/pioneerexpeditions
